AMMPE salutes Palestinian journalists covering Gaza conflict
The Worldwide Association of Women Journalists and Writers (AMMPE World) congratulated Palestinian journalists covering the Gaza conflict. On Thursday evening, May 2, they received the World Press Freedom Prize awarded by UNESCO and the Guillermo Cano Foundation.
The president of AMMPE, Elia Simeone, personally delivered her greetings to the president of the Palestinian Union of Journalists, Nasser Abu Baker, who traveled to Santiago to receive the award.
Since October of last year to date, over a hundred Palestinian reporters and journalists have been killed while covering the Israeli offensive against the territory.
The Unesco award ceremony took place within the framework of World Press Freedom Day, which was hosted by Chile.
