Martine Lanctôt takes over the presidency of AMMPE Canada

Martine Lanctôt takes over the presidency of the Canadian chapter of Worldwide Association of Women Journalists and Writers (AMMPE World).
The new president of AMMPE Canada is from Montreal in Quebec, the French province of Canada. This national new chapter was created last March in Montreal, during a ceremony attended by AMMPE president Elia Simeone.

Martine Lanctôt will replace Gabriela Casas as president of AMMPE Canada. She has a master’s degree in history and always dreamed of being a journalist what she has become for 35 years. She has worked during all those years for the public television, mainly for the Canadian public television which has an English branch, CBC, and a French one, Radio-Canada where she worked in Montreal. She was a journalist for the national news program for many years then was nominated chief editor for different information programs. When she left Radio-Canada, she then taught for three years at university a journalism course on ethics and deontology.

“Later I gave training courses in schools about fake news and disinformation. This program was created by the Quebec Federation of Journalists to meet high school and pre-university students to raise awareness of the phenomenon of fake news”, Martine highlighted.

She is also a member of the Ski Club of International Journalists (SCIJ), which brings together every year in a different country, up to 200 journalists for one week of activities, skiing, conferences, and tourism.
