UNESCO Supports World Congress of Women Journalists and Writers
The XXV Congress of the World Association of Women Journalists and Writers to be held in September this year in the city of Punta Arenas, at the southern tip of Chile, has the support of the UNESCO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Santiago.
Promoting the safety of journalists and the fight against impunity for those who attack them are central to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's support for press freedom and freedom of expression.
In addition to offering its support to the AMMPE Congress, the UNESCO Office in Chile will participate in this global meeting by presenting its ‘Report on Online Violence against Women Journalists’.
